Ingredients
Bread
- 1/3 c unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 c milk
- 1 c granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 c flour
- 1 tsp salt
- Grated rind of 1 lemon
- 1/2 c walnuts, chopped
Glaze
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/3 c granulated sugar
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 325
- Grease and flour loaf pan
- In large bowl, cream butter and sugar
- Add milk, eggs, lemon rind
- Beat in remaining dry ingredients (baking powder, flour, salt)
- Fold in walnuts; do not over-work
- Pour into greased and floured loaf pan
- Bake at 325° 1 hour or until toothpick is clean
- While loaf is cooling, whisk lemon juice and granulated sugar
- Pour glaze over bread while still in pan
- Cool 15 additional minutes before removing
